In 1982 he was injured on the sets of Coolie. He suffered internal bleeding and required 17 bottles of blood. At one point in time, he was close to death. The film cashed in on the injury and became a big success. It was decided that Bachchan's character would die in the movie prior to his accident. But after the accident, the film maker decided to change the ending of the movie. The character lived much to the joy of the masses.
